A new piece of hardware has arrived for my collection. And today it is a really nice piece - Lifebook S7110
It looks really great. It is just a bit yellowed, but that is to be expected. Almost all the plastics are in good condition (the "almost" will be explained later). And everything works. The best surprise for me is the working status LCD display under the main screen.
In fact, I have never had a notebook with this kind of information display that worked. And here it is. For the first try, it works, and it seems to display the correct information.
The battery is also charged (and indicated as such) and will last for more than half an hour of work. Which is pretty good for such an old battery.
The keyboard works, everything clicks, only the right shift is a little lower and the pressure is a little harder, but it still works. If I were playing pinball, I would change the key, but it still works. Maybe there is just some dust, so if I had the time I would take it apart and try to clean it. Maybe it is that simple and it would work.
And now for the sad part. I am missing the plastic HDD cover. Is there anyone who has this notebook and a complete chassis who can measure it for me? I would like to model it and 3D print a replacement to complete the notebook.
Please, if you can help me with measuring or modelling, leave a comment.
