Well, I've always wanted to try writing a very simple voxel engine because I wanted to find out how they work. However, I didn't want to create another 'SOMETHING-CRAFT'. A few weeks ago, I remembered a game I really liked. It was called Ace of Spades. It was a very simplistic voxel shooter game. It was a really good game, but then it received a massive upgrade that changed the gameplay and visuals, and made it much worse — it was completely different.
So I finally decided to try making that engine and using it to create a remake of this game. I also want to connect it with my online gaming platform. I have started working on a prototype. It already works — I can run around the map freely, and the online players are somehow synced now. Much more work and adjustments are required, but it already works as a proof of concept, so I hope I will be able to develop it into a playable version. Who knows, maybe one day someone will actually try to play it!
