As i am concentrated to games on 5310XM
As I am focusing on games for the 5310XM, I thought there wouldn't be an article today. However, yesterday at 8 pm, I received a notification that I had a package in a box. Because of my OCD, I had to collect it as soon as possible, so I got up early and collected the package on my way to work. It is full of really interesting stuff that I will talk about later. The only things I took out were the Galaxy A3 and a "smart" wristband.
As the app for the wristband is obscure and wouldn't work with the latest Android, I'd keep it to pair with an older phone for testing purposes. However, I don't need to do that right now. So I decided to experiment with the Galaxy a little.
The battery seemed to be dead; when I turned it on, it showed 33%, which fell to 15% in a few seconds. I turned it off immediately and left it to charge for a long time. Now it seems much better. The battery life isn't great, but I guess it would last one or two hours of gaming.
At first, I tinkered with the GUI a little.
And because it comes with Android 5, I have installed some games that I found when downloading software for Android 4 devices, but which were not suitable. What I was really looking forward to was Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, a spin-off of Abe's Oddysee, a game I really liked as a child.
As well as others such as RVGL (the Re-Volt open-source clone), Mekorama and Armageddon Squadron, I also looked for some interesting logic games and found this one, which is like Snake on steroids. The aim is to eat food to grow and then reach the end portal. However, you are subject to the laws of physics and space, so you have to think carefully to complete the levels.
This phone's display is excellent, featuring a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 540 x 960 (245 ppi). I have found that the phone can be upgraded to Android 6.0.1; however, the servers are dead, so I am stuck on Android 5.0.1.
It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 processor and an Adreno 306 GPU, which provide more than enough processing power, and the 1 GB of RAM is also sufficient for such an old device. A nice surprise is the 16 GB of ROM, which gives me plenty of space for my games.
