Nokia 5310XM

Published on: 03 November 2025 Category: mobile phones

This is a very nice, small Nokia from 2007. It has a 2.1-inch display with 240 x 320 pixels and 16 million colours, which I really like. It has around 30 MB of internal memory, of which about 22 MB is available for user content. This is more than enough for tens of games. And yes, if you're 20 or under, this must sound really funny to you!

The camera and software equipment is nothing to write home about, except for the built-in Opera Mini browser.

More interesting is the dedicated sound chip, which offers great sound quality through headphones and makes it a worthy MP3 player.

The operating system is the smooth-running Series 40 Symbian. I am really enjoying the phone's small dimensions and its excellent display. As I really enjoy playing games on old phones, I will stick with this model for a while longer to play all the games I used to play as a child, but now with a higher resolution.

One of these is the Tornado game, in which you destroy the environment, grow your tornado and gain strength to destroy increasingly large items. It's really relaxing and also contains a campaign.

The second game is something I haven't played much before, but it's really great! To be honest, I was looking for another slot-car racing game, but I found this one, which is even better. It also comes with a campaign/championship mode, where you race six cars on various tracks. A very nice element is the need for pit stops, which makes the races more challenging and strategy-based.

Then I found out a game called Bulánci. It's a Czech top-down shooter game. It's so stupid and infantile that it's actually great. It was a huge hit during my childhood and was released for various platforms. The first release, however, was for computers. It's a very nice reminder of my childhood.

And now, on to my absolute favourite games! The first one is Cars, which is based on the film of the same name. It comes with a story that guides you through the missions and follows the plot of the first film. This is the game I was trying to send to my K310i via infraport in my childhood, and it took me a really long time. I completed the game many times. Maybe I'll complete it again now in a higher resolution.

The next one was another hit with the schoolchildren. It's about a black ram that gives pleasure to sheep in the wild. The main objective is to make all the sheep happy and progress to the next level. It's a really stupid concept, but for teenagers it was really rebellious to play an adult game. It took very little effort to make teenagers happy and make them feel like rebels.

Finally, the game I'm really looking forward to is Triballs! It's a tribute to my favourite game of all time, Lost Vikings. You control three characters with different abilities and must work together as a group to complete each level. When I was a child, I could only get hold of a demo version of the game, so I'm really looking forward to playing through all the levels now. This is definitely a game I have to play and finish.

This has been my go-to playlist for a couple of weeks now. Wish me luck completing it and keep your fingers crossed that I will get to make another phone for testing. I currently have about 20 pieces of hardware for testing, fixing and adding to my collection, so stay tuned!
