New daily phone

As my Realme 7 is on its way out — especially the battery and charging port — I had to find a new phone. I don't need much. All I need is a relatively recent version of Android and a USB-C connector, which is the only thing stopping me from buying an older flagship second hand and flashing it to Lineage OS.

So, I found the Motorola Moto G05. I know many would argue that it's absolutely worthless, but I actually really like it.

I bought it two weeks ago and have just tried it out. Then I put it back in the box and laid it on the table. I really need the screen protector because I'm not very careful with phones. I ordered three of them from AliExpress because the price of one glass here is about the same as the price of seven from China. So I had to wait. And yesterday, they finally arrived. And yes, I had more fun with Czech Post, especially the postman who refused to walk a few more steps to our house because of roadworks. So I had to visit the post office. However, I collected the package and took it home. I applied the glass to the phone and finally started to use it!

I was a bit disappointed for the first five or ten minutes. The phone was laggy and unresponsive. However, after that, it started working really smoothly, and I liked it. I guess the issue was caused by background installation and setup processes, so it's now solved.

And yes, I suppose it's not ideal for playing AA games, but who cares? I just need a phone to make calls, send text messages and emails, and occasionally watch YouTube or browse the internet. The hardware is more than enough for me, and it was really cheap. I am really happy with that phone and am going to install all the necessary software and finally transfer the SIM card.

I recently installed the Nova Launcher and was pleasantly surprised. The last time I installed a custom launcher was maybe seven or eight years ago. Since then, I have always been quite satisfied with the ones that came preinstalled. However, I needed to make a change because I wanted to have five icons in the bottom bar on the home screen, which was not possible with the stock launcher. After installing and running the Nova Launcher, I was still going back to the stock launcher when I pressed the back button, which I was not expecting. Usually, after installing a new launcher, the system asks which launcher to use, but this time it did not. After a quick Google search, I discovered that I had to switch the launcher manually via Settings > Apps > Default apps. So, I learned something new!
